It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.' - Buffalo Bill

Buffalo Bill raised a great point, lotion is everything. Proper after care is crucial for the long-term appearance and health of your tattoo. Following these guidelines will help ensure a successful healing process.

Listen to me:

Follow the specific aftercare instructions given by me.

Keep the bandage on:

I may wrap your tattoo with a sterile bandage or plastic wrap to protect it from bacteria and dirt. Leave it on for the time recommended, usually a few hours.

Clean your hands:

Before touching your tattoo, wash your hands thoroughly with mild, fragrance-free soap and warm water to prevent the introduction of bacteria.

Gently clean the tattoo:

After removing the initial bandage, gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Use your clean hands or a soft cloth, and avoid scrubbing or using rough materials.

Pat dry with a clean towel:

Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean, lint-free towel. Avoid rubbing, as it can irritate the tattoo.

Apply a thin layer of ointment:

Use a recommended tattoo aftercare ointment or a thin layer of fragrance-free, antibacterial ointment to keep the tattoo moisturized and protected. Avoid petroleum-based products as they can clog the pores.

Avoid tight clothing:

Wear loose, breathable clothing over your tattoo to prevent rubbing and irritation.
Opt for cotton fabrics that allow air circulation.

Avoid direct sunlight:

Keep your tattoo away from direct sunlight, as UV rays can damage the healing skin and fade the tattoo’s colors. If exposed, use a high SPF sunscreen to protect it.

Don’t scratch or pick:

Itching is a normal part of the healing process, but avoid scratching or picking at your tattoo. This can cause infection and damage the design.

Avoid swimming and soaking:

Stay away from swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and baths during the initial healing period. Submerging your tattoo in water can introduce bacteria and slow down the healing process.

Stay hydrated and eat healthily:

Proper hydration and a balanced diet can help your body heal faster, including your tattoo.

Keep it clean:

Throughout the healing process, continue to gently clean your tattoo daily and apply ointment or moisturizer as recommended. Avoid using excessive amounts of products.

Be patient:

Healing times vary, but it typically takes about 2-4 weeks for the outer layers of the skin to fully heal. The tattoo may appear dull or faded during this time, but it will regain its vibrancy once fully healed.
